What this site is
RedundancyCalculator.ie is a free site for Irish employees facing redundancy. The calculator applies the statutory formula from the Redundancy Payments Acts, the tax calculator estimates how much of an ex-gratia lump sum is tax-free, and the guides explain redundancy entitlements, notice periods and how redundancy is taxed.
It was built because people facing redundancy need their number before the meeting, without wading through legislation.
Where the data comes from
The statutory formula comes from the Redundancy Payments Acts, cross-checked against the Redundancy Payment Scheme pages on gov.ie and citizensinformation.ie. The tax exemptions come from the Lump sum payments section of revenue.ie. Each page lists its sources and the date the figures were last checked.
How it stays accurate
The statutory formula changes rarely. When caps or rules move, the calculators and their automated tests are updated together, so the maths cannot silently drift. A watcher script checks the official pages every week (twice a day around Budget time) and raises an alert the day a figure changes.
Who runs it
RedundancyCalculator.ie is a personal project, built and maintained by an independent web developer. It is free to use and not affiliated with any government body or official organisation. The tools here are provided for convenience; for decisions that matter, always confirm with the official source.
